Save the Date: Black Teacher Appreciation Day 2026
Mark your calendars! On May 7, 2026, we come together with the Black Teacher Pipeline Coalition to honor and uplift Black educators on Black Teacher Appreciation Day.

Black teachers play an essential role in shaping the future of education. Despite making up only 7% of the U.S. teaching workforce, Black educators profoundly impact students by providing representation, mentorship, and culturally relevant instruction. Studies show that Black students are more likely to graduate high school and attend college when they have at least one Black teacher during their K-12 education. Yet, systemic barriers continue to limit the recruitment, retention, and well-being of Black teachers.
We need everyone—students, families, educators, and advocates—to take action and show appreciation for Black teachers. Stay on the lookout for ways you can participate in Black Teacher Appreciation Day 2026!
Black Teacher Appreciation Day isn’t just a one-day event—it’s a movement. As we recognize the hard work, resilience, and dedication of Black teachers, we must also work towards systemic change that ensures their well-being, professional growth, and longevity in education. We'll come together to celebrate, uplift, and advocate for Black educators.
