There are so many people to celebrate on Black Teacher Appreciation Day. Meet 10 more you want to know:

Ms. Dominique Roberts, Hot Springs, AR: "This teacher inspired me by always believing in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself, and pushing me to reach my full potential. I’m thankful for her because her encouragement, patience, and love helped shape who I am today and gave me the confidence to keep going no matter what.
I’m truly grateful for the impact this teacher has had, not just on me but on so many students she encounters each day. Her dedication, consistency, and genuine care create a safe and inspiring environment where students can grow and believe in themselves, and that kind of influence lasts a lifetime."

Ms. Dorreen Holland, Palmyra, VA: "Ms. Dorreen Holland has inspired me and changed my life for the better. She has been a prime example as to what it is to be a good teacher and a mentor/supporter. She works diligently, patiently, and passionately with her kids!"

Ms. Lauren Griffin, Chicago, IL (multiple nominations): "This teacher has inspired me with her compassion and positive attitude towards humans to always strive for seeing the good in people. I am thankful she inspires our young kids to be great leaders tomorrow"
"I admire Lauren for always taking the initiative to bring creative, artistic opportunities for her school community. From musical theater, fine arts, music education, with incredible collaborators, she helps her students see what is possible."

Through her active involvement on campus and in the community, she consistently leads, guides, and inspires others, exemplifying the true heart of a servant leader.
Ms. Jones is the kind of educator every child deserves; one who leads with heart, purpose, and an unwavering belief in their potential. As a kindergarten teacher at Eichold-Mertz Magnet School, she goes far beyond teaching academics by building meaningful relationships, creating magical learning experiences, and pouring into both her students and their families. Ms. Keiva Welch: "My sister has impacted over 100 youth for 12 years."

Ms. Loletia Thomas, Pinellas Park, FL: "She taught me the true value of education. She was a role model and perfect educator. I decided to become a teacher due to all of her hard work and leadership. She cared when no one else would. She grounded and motivated me and so many other students to purse and finish our educational goals and dreams.
This Black educator/queen is very selfless. She cares more for others than she does for herself. This would definitely be a shock and honor for her to receive as she is not used to being the chosen one. If anyone deserved this recognition, it would definitely be her.

Ms. Brigette Mathis, Fort Worth, TX: "Ms. Mathis helped me get out of my comfort zone and find my path in this country as a newcomer. Because of her help and constant support, I will be graduating as the valedictorian and will be attending Rice University with a full-ride scholarship.
Ms. Mathis truly changed my life from a shy newcomer student to the best student of the school. Her advices and support always pushed me to break obstacles and change them to opportunities."

Ms. Melva Holliman, Mobile, AL: "Ms. Holliman has worked so hard for her students, whether it be through using her free time and personal funds to lead our clubs, being the teacher that we can go to when we need a break, or meticulously giving us feedback on assignments. Her dedication and tough love is much appreciated, and she’s helped me grow into who I am now."

Ms. Gladys Nimneh-Nyanti, Arlington, VA: "Watching how she empowers our Black students to see their brilliance and possibilities has deepened my understanding of culturally affirming teaching. Her presence and leadership have pushed me to be an even more intentional educator.
This year, she led an incredible Black History Month assembly, even bringing in HBCU students for a step performance and engaging our 4th and 5th graders in a powerful Q&A."

Ms. Nisha Valery, Oakland, CA: "We are incredibly thankful for Ms. Valery’s collaborative and creative approach to supporting students with Individual Education Plans. She leads with student skill development, advocacy, and agency at the forefront. She is a champion for students and teachers."
