Black Teacher Appreciation Day – Meet the Nominees (Part 7)
We are almost halfway through an incredible number of nominations in honor of Black Teacher Appreciation Day. Meet the next ten teachers who deserve accolades:

Ms. LaGinia Dove, Spartanburg, SC: "Ms. Dove is very relatable to the students. She goes above and beyond for all the students and gets to know all of them on a personal level. She finds out what makes them tick and then turns it into what makes them learn. She makes me want to be a better teacher. Even through her own adversities, she puts on a strong face for her students and shows up for them in every way possible; teacher, friend, confidant, mom, aunt, comedian, prayer warrior, listener. She deserves to be appreciated."

Ms. Lashonda Young, Spartanburg, SC: "LaShonda is a phonics and ELA expert. She can teach any child to read. She is knowledgeable about how to get through to a child."

Ms. Latoya Nelson, Centerville, GA (multiple nominations): "Because of a black teacher my daughter has found an environment that accepts her, celebrates her, and makes her feel confident. My child is thriving under Mrs. Nelson's guidance and exceptional care."
"Mrs. Nelson built a school for children like me. She always made me feel welcomed and capable. Mrs. Nelson is not only a teacher, she is a microschool founder, creating a space for all children, but especially neurodivergent black children in Middle Georgia."

Ms. Lauren Miller: "Lauren loves the kids and the kids love her. Upon entering her classroom, you can feel the connection that Lauren has with her students."

Ms. Marcia White, Bronx, NY: "I am thankful for them because without their guidance and friendship, I was able to push through my first year as a teacher. She embodies what it means to be a student-centered educator. With an unwavering passion for helping students improve and push beyond their limits, she consistently goes above and beyond. In the five years I have known her, her care and dedication have never wavered."

Ms. Marlene Pearson, Spartanburg, SC: "I work with Marlene every day. She has the patience and knowledge to work with kids. I joke with her all the time, but she really is doing God’s work in and out of the classroom."
