Meet ten more teachers who deserve celebration as part of Black Teacher Appreciation Day. We asked you to nominate teachers, and here's a look at what people had to say about these educators' impact.

Mr. Francois Fils-Aime, Boston, MA (multiple nominations): "I was a student who did not like school. Mr. Fils-Aime checked in with me and other students to make sure we were alright. He also checked in with my mother to ensure she had the resources and support."
"Francois saw potential in me before I fully saw it in myself, pushing me to aim higher and believe in my abilities. Their guidance didn’t just help me succeed in class, it shaped my confidence and the way I approach challenges in life and he also has become one of my best friends in life."

"Mr. Fils Aime was the only Black male teacher in my High School in Boston and a representation of what I what I could be as an adult. He is still teaching and mentoring young Black boys in and out of school. He is one of the reasons I mentor and give back to the next generation in the City of Boston."

Ms. GaNiecr Denali, Leander, TX: "She drives daily from another city to come to support and serve at a Title I campus that faces a host of challenges daily. She empowers her students by instilling them with confidence and pride as she supports them in developing and meeting academic goals, as well. She gives so much of her time outside of school hours to provide students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. She has hosted a cheer program and flag football club at students' request."

Mr. Gerald Chaney, Chicago, IL: "Mr. Chaney is an educator with so many talents. He is a fixture at Chicago sporting events, singing for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, and Chicago White Sox. His love of music and the arts has an incredible impact on his students and school community."

Dr. Hadji Sissokho, Washington, DC: "Dr. Hadji Sissokho has taught several years in foreign countries and in the US. He has dedicated most of his lifetime to learn and share his knowledge with students around the globe. His foundation AfroPanorama helps children through education."

Ms. Helen Washington, Baltimore, MD (multiple nominations): "Ms. Washington is one of one! Literally the most influential and inspiring teachers in the black community! She not only teaches but leads for excellence! Her kindness and love for children is unmatched! We need more teachers like her. Thank you for all you do!!"

Ms. Melanie Madkin, Pine Bluff, AR: "Melanie has always been amazing with children. I have personally seen her work with children in her own nonprofit program Ms. Madkin’s Literacy Program, and she is amazing. She has thoroughly taught and helped so many children in our community."
