AI LEARNING IN ACTION.

The Center for Black Educator Development’s AI professional learning series prepares educators to lead, design, and implement AI in ways that are equitable, culturally responsive, and grounded in real classroom practice.

Through strategic partnerships, educator-led innovation, and leadership development, the Center for Black Educator Development is building AI initiatives that strengthen teaching, deepen equity, and amplify Black educator leadership.

Through immersive leadership training, community-based and online professional learning, the Center for Black Educator Development is building a national network of educators shaping how AI shows up in schools today and for the future.

Educators who complete CBED’s AI training don’t just participate, they become validators and multipliers. Through our networked learning model, professional learning participants create videos, lessons, toolkits, and learning sessions that extend their expertise across schools, districts, and affinity networks nationwide.

By combining high-quality professional learning, educator-created resources, and powerful storytelling, CBED is reaching more than 11,000 educators and ensuring AI adoption strengthens equity, culture, and human connection.

CBED + PLAYLAB INNOVATION COMMUNITY

In partnership with Playlab, CBED is co-designing and delivering an AI-powered professional learning experience rooted in equity, innovation, and educator voice. This initiative equips educators to identify challenges uniquely affecting Black and Brown students and to design AI-powered tools that directly address those challenges. Participants move beyond theory into active creation, prototyping apps, workflows, and classroom supports that are tested in real educational settings. Through Generation AI, educators collaborate with technologists and instructional leaders to build practical solutions that improve classroom practice while centering culture, humanity, and community. Playlab has also led sessions in partnership with us at the Black Men in Education (BMEC) Conference.

AI IN EDUCATION LEADERSHIP CATALYST

The AI in Education Leadership Catalyst is a joint initiative between CBED and Latinos for Education. Through a community-first, five-week leadership experience, the program fosters collaboration and capacity-building to advance responsible AI use in education. Participants deepen their understanding of AI applications, explore ethical frameworks, and develop leadership strategies that guide implementation in their schools and districts. The Catalyst transforms educators from AI adopters into AI leaders who are equipped to shape policy, influence practice, and strengthen instructional culture in meaningful and sustainable ways.
