From Emmy-award winning directors Diego Hurtado de Mendoza (The Redeem Team) and Lisa Cortés (The Apollo), THE SPACE RACE weaves together the stories of Black astronauts seeking to break the bonds of social injustice to reach for the stars, including Guion Bluford, Ed Dwight and Charles Bolden, among many others.

Through Picture Motion’s recently launched screening tour for the film, National Geographic Documentary Films is working closely with schools and non-profit organizations to support free online, in person or hybrid screenings and action-oriented conversations to educate audiences on the continued importance of equity within the STEM/STEAM fields, and of the little-known stories of the first Black pilots, engineers and scientists that became astronauts.
